This post will discuss the essential vocabulary related to the bathroom.

The following vocabulary compilation is, of course, incomplete, but it should cover most bathroom situations.

Phrases

The following phrases are commonly used throughout the bathroom.

Toilet (Klósett)

1. Fara á klósettið - (Go to the bathroom/Go on the toilet)
2. Draga niður/upp buxurnar - (Pull one's pants down/upp)
3. Setjast á klósettið - (Sit on the toilet)
4. Skeina sér - (Wipe oneself)
5. Sturta niður - (Flush the toilet)
6. Skipta um klósettpappír - (Change out the toilet papper)

Note: The word "salerni" is also used for "toilet." It can also be used in the proceeding compounds instead of "klosett."

Shower (Sturta)

1. Fara í bað/sturtu - (Take a bath/shower)
2. Skrúfa fyrir/frá vatninu/vatnið - (Turn the water off/on)
3. Þvo á sér hárið - (Wash one's hair)
4. Skrúbba/nudda sig - (Scrub oneself)

Sink (Vaskur)
